The New Dominion Chorale is always delighted to welcome new members. We are a singers' cooperative of more than 200 members led by artistic director Thomas Beveridge. There is no audition to join, and our members hail from a wide range of professional and musical backgrounds.

Our concert history includes many great classical choral works as well as modern ones. Performances are typically held on Sunday afternoons at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus. Practice CD's and other learning resources are available for most concerts.

Rehearsals are held weekly on Monday nights at the McLean Baptist Church, and sectionals may be held after rehearsals or on Saturdays. Please review our Spring 2012 rehearsal schedule to get a better feel for the time commitment. Members may miss a limited number of rehearsals per concert, but attendance at dress rehearsals is mandatory. The 2011-2012 Concert Schedule is available online. Rehearsals for Spring '12 began on Monday, January 23, 2012.

There is some financial commitment to singing with us as well. Annual membership dues for 2011-2012 are $150 per singing member. Singers buy and keep their music; the total cost for music is generally less than $50 per year. Concert attire for men is a tuxedo; women must purchase one of four approved concert dresses ranging in price from $50 to $100.

New members may join at any time. While there is no cutoff date for membership, you must still have attended the minimum number of rehearsals (noted on rehearsal schedules and/or announced on Monday evenings) in order to sing a given concert. You must also be correctly attired at the performance; for women in particular this may mean having allowed a few weeks for dress orders to arrive and hemming to be completed. Member dues are not prorated for those who join partway through the season or for those who only wish to sing one or two concerts.

We would love for you to join us! Simply come to any of our rehearsals on Monday evenings at 7:30 in the Fellowship Hall of McLean Baptist Church and introduce yourself to your voice Section Leader, the membership coordinator, or the chorale president (any member can point these people out). If you wish to become a singing member you will need to complete a Registration Form and pay the associated dues. Payment of dues indicates that you have read and accepted the provisions of the Membership Agreement.

A new member orientation is provided early in the season to familiarize you with the workings of the chorale and answer any questions you may still have. You will also be given access to the Members Section of this site, where you will find a Membership Handbook and other useful information.
